{"product_id":"16468-nadav-kander","title":"Nadav Kander","description":"Nadav Kander (born 1961 in Israel) creates images in times of upheaval: in his series, which was awarded the prestigious Prix Pictet photography prize in 2009, he photographs a changing China along the Yangtze River and the individual who seems helplessly confronted with the force of these changes. The river, China's lifeline, becomes a symbol of unstoppable change in these images. A mother with a baby in her arms stands like a tiny figure next to an oversized bridge pier, and one involuntarily wonders what the country will look like when this child is grown. Remnants of old China, in whose spirituality the river played a significant role, can still be found, but the idyllic old buildings and houseboats are being replaced by oversized new apartment blocks that copy Western architectural forms. Nadav Kander himself feels as if this country, in its enormous pursuit of progress, is severing its own roots to the past, deeply wounding both the land and its people in the process.","brand":"Hatje Cantz Verlag","offers":[{"title":"Book (978-3-7757-2683-2)","offer_id":45171480330504,"sku":"9783775726832","price":78.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0582\/8948\/8049\/files\/odoo_9783775726832_ae9bdd38-b792-4f86-9b33-b7352f856add.jpg?v=1744120144","url":"https:\/\/hatjecantz.de\/en\/products\/16468-nadav-kander","provider":"Hatje Cantz Verlag","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
