Glissant, one of the most important authors of the French-speaking Caribbean and a pioneer of postcolonial thought, drew attention to “possibilities of global exchange that do not homogenize culture but rather produce a difference from which something new can emerge.” Following a recommendation from Alighiero Boetti, Obrist encountered Glissant at the beginning of his work as a curator and read his books before later meeting him in person.
