{"product_id":"16707-dinh-q-l","title":"Dinh Q. Lê","description":"Since 2004\/05, artist Dinh Q. Lê has been collecting watercolors, ink, and pen-and-ink drawings by Viet Cong artists from North and South Vietnam. In his notebook, in an interview with Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, he describes the historical and autobiographical contexts of his intense passion for collecting. Together with his family, he fled his hometown of Hà Tiên in 1978, at the age of 10, from the communist government and the Khmer Rouge. After almost 20 years in the USA, Dinh Q. Lê returned permanently to Vietnam in 1997. The drawings he has included in his collection have a melancholic character. They show people in an idealized landscape, as if they were seeking everyday life and a connection with nature during wartime. These very personal sketches and their politics of form present a different reality to the \"official\" images; they reveal a situation of collective waiting, a yearning that united the people. \u003cbr\u003eDinh Q.
