{"product_id":"17210-nadav-kander","title":"Nadav Kander","description":"Nadav Kander (b. 1961 in Israel) photographs the models in his latest series as white-painted, naked bodies, their faces turned away from the viewer. The accessories are sparse, the aesthetic is minimalist, yet the arrangement of the usually voluptuous bodies appears baroque. One thinks of portraits of Elizabeth I with her lead-white \"mask.\" In Kander's precisely lit photographs of exquisite color, white mice scurry over white skin, a tiny bird perches beside an odalisque. Red hair plays a role, pouring like a living entity over doll-like bodies. Despite the presented fleshiness, the photographs do not appear overtly erotic. The lack of eye contact and the white makeup act as a barrier, and the massiveness of the limbs presented is reminiscent of works by Hans Bellmer or Lucian Freud. Like them, Kander offers simulacra of sensuality and questions our body image and concept of beauty.","brand":"Hatje Cantz Verlag","offers":[{"title":"Special Edition (978-3-7757-3449-3)","offer_id":45171482919176,"sku":"9783775734493","price":20.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0582\/8948\/8049\/files\/odoo_9783775734493_7e88baea-c1b1-44b7-bb8b-2e03107f1747.jpg?v=1744120137","url":"https:\/\/hatjecantz.de\/en\/products\/17210-nadav-kander","provider":"Hatje Cantz Verlag","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
