65424-christina-glanz
Christina Glanz
Coal miners at the moment they receive their dismissal; group photos of the last shift before workers dismantle their own plant; self-confident gazes into the camera from women coal workers to the no-future generation of the 2000s. From 1982 to 2006, photographer Christina Glanz closely accompanied the sometimes dramatic transformation processes in the Niederlausitz region. For the first time, Christina Glanz's photographic series – including previously unseen images – show the Lauchhammer coal and briquette factories, which have now almost completely disappeared. Accompanied by an introduction by Katalin Krasznahorkai, an essay by Sonia Voss, and voices from conversations Christina Glanz held with women coal workers after the Wende, this publication draws a cartography of self-empowerment, strength, and resistance of the actors during the transition into a new world.

CHRISTINA GLANZ (*1946, Eichsfeld, Thuringia) studied architecture in Dresden and at the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin.
