65493-stefan-marx
Stefan Marx
2019, Stefan Marx began his series of monotypes. In collaboration with Berlin-based screen printer Björn Wiede, he developed his own working method: three individual images are created in three steps – a positive, a negative, and a "ghost image," the ghost. Initially, he was fascinated by the thick application of paint and the intensity of the pigments in this new approach. The image surface itself is not touched during paint application – the imagery emerges through the manipulation of the printing screen. A large part of these monotypes are text-based images, but there are also figurative motifs, including animal drawings and other signs from Stefan Marx's repertoire of motifs.

This book follows on from the volume Schriftbilder (Text Images): Stefan Marx also developed Monotypien (Monotypes) as an artist's book, working with a fascinating intertwining of reproductions of the works and design sketches from his notebooks.

STEFAN MARX (born 1979 in Schwalmstadt, Hesse) is a draughtsman, skateboarder, and cultural philosopher.
