{"product_id":"67129-aref-el-rayess","title":"Aref El Rayess","description":"The Lebanese artist Aref el Rayess (1928–2005) created an impressive oeuvre of paintings, drawings, collages, and sculptures that remains little-explored to this day. Rayess was a traveler. He lived in many countries, absorbing the spirit of these places. His works reflect the zeitgeist of those eras and art scenes. He was an independent thinker, a political person, a free spirit. His subjects include people, society, abstraction, and nature. His signature style and painting technique constantly evolved, yet always remained distinctive and unmistakable. This first monograph is dedicated to Rayess's versatile artistic practice, focusing primarily on his painting between 1949 and 2005. Aref el Rayess, born in Aley, Lebanon, in 1928, studied art in Paris, including with Fernand Léger, and lived in Lebanon, France, and Italy. After the outbreak of the civil war in 1975, he moved to Saudi Arabia and served as art commissioner for the city of Jeddah. His desert paintings were created during this period. Rayess participated in exhibitions worldwide. He died in Beirut in 2005.","brand":"Hatje Cantz Verlag","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":49811902955784,"sku":"9783775757355","price":44.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0582\/8948\/8049\/files\/odoo_9783775757355_c25e05b3-840e-45cd-abfe-55a5759eed30.jpg?v=1744289511","url":"https:\/\/hatjecantz.de\/en\/products\/67129-aref-el-rayess","provider":"Hatje Cantz Verlag","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
