81130-jitish-kallat-integer-study
Jitish Kallat. Integer Study
Integer Study (drawing from life) is a portfolio of 365 drawings made over the course of a year, recorded in an intimate diary. Since early 2021, Jitish Kallat has been exploring the present state of our planet by daily tallying the world's population. Each of the 365 drawings depicts the algorithmically estimated births and deaths up to a specific time of day. With delicate graphite and watercolor drawings and gesso stains, Kallat contrasts painterly abstraction with precise data, forming a web of relationships between birth and life, time and and death. Existential questions segue into ecological themes, from reflections on climate and extinction to evolution and decay.

Jitish Kallat was born in Mumbai in 1974, the city where he continues to live and work. He has exhibited in numerous museums and institutions. His solo exhibitions include the Art Institute of Chicago, the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum, and the Ian Potter Museum of Art in Melbourne.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0582/8948/8049/files/odoo_9783775759373_8b59dca6-d99f-4e27-bdb4-305f3670f3e2.jpg?v=1744103716
